On April 28th, we had the Wine and Cheese Reception, followed by a concert by the Israeli jazz band, Seeds of Sun. The program was co-sponsored by the MKJF. Thanks to Mallory Medvene and her committee for putting things together for that event. Also thanks to Mark Levy and the Brotherhood for setting the stage and chairs. It was wonderful!
The Sisterhood trip to the Jewish Side of New York is planned for May 17th – May 20th. There are four people who are actually going! We have a small but powerful team including Claudia Blackburn, Leah Barnhard, Kay Davis, and me. Kay is an experienced person in leading the Confirmation trips together with the Rabbi, so we are sure we are going to see the best of the Jewish side of New York, which also includes the best Jewish food! I personally am very excited about it. The first evening we are going to an Itzhak Perlman concert. For Shabbat evening we are scheduled to go to the B’nai Jeshurun synagogue on the Upper West Side, and Saturday morning, we will attend Shabbat services at Temple Emanu-El. Among other attractions is the tour of the Lower East Side. At this time, we still have one more room for two reserved, so call if you are interested. You would need to buy tickets yourself.
The donor event this year is scheduled on June 10th. It will be a nice luncheon at Congregation Emanu-El. Shaun-Michael Morse is helping us put together a program honoring our matriarchs.
I cannot think of a better conclusion than a statement from our by-laws: “All of us, whether or not we perceive ourselves as having extra time, whether or not we have children, whether or not we attend services regularly, are needed as members of Sisterhood. Your support actively or financially brings strength to our Congregation and personal rewards as well”
